During the 12 weeks of Professional Studies we have visited three different areas, visiting three different Galleries, In my opinion i feel that the London Hollywood Museum was the best as it covered a variety of different areas which i can take inspiration from in the future.
Over this semester Fashion and Textiles was broke up into smaller groups to Present four different Presentations through out the 12 weeks based on Magazines, Newspapers, Culture and Whats hot? and Whats not? I feel that our work has grown over these weeks and will continue to grown through out the years to come and hope to learn a lot more in the next three years....

Harrods winter window display
During the London trip myself and other members of my group went to visit Harrods winter window display which was inspired by fairy tales such as; Cinderella, Aladdin, Snow white, Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood
and many more. These winter window displays are beautifully designed with amazing thought to every detail.
Nottingham Contemporary museum and Kafou Models
For professional studies we
visited The Contemporary Museum based in Nottingham city centre at the lace
market. This Museum was based on voodoo and the ceremonies perfumed through
animal sacrifice.
The artwork that I saw was of a spiritual theme, this included artwork, models, film and worship flags. The artwork was based on an evil spirit; certain colours with the work represented this. Many of the pictures had a sense of death within them; the killing of chickens, goats and monkeys showed this. This was seen to be as a ritual. The models that were on display were made from a selection of material that has been washed in from the sea. The general public would normally have seen this as litter but these artists made good use of the material and created the models presented in the museum. The nature of the models comes from the belief that spirits could engulf the statue and live within it. The film was of a ritual that included animals being sacrificed; as this is what they believed would bring back the spirits from the dead. This certain ritual was performed on a boat but it could happen anywhere with a field of spirits present. The worship flags were also involved within the film, people would pray and hold the flags meaning that they had a high importance to the people around.
Overall I
did not like this museum because I find animal cruelty wrong which put me off
from the start and therefore I did not enjoy the exhibition because of this.
Although I was put off, I did like the fact of believing theres life after
death as shown by the Kafou models which spirits were believed to have lived in
after sacrifices were made.
The Hollywood Museum V&A
The Hollywood museum was my Favorite part from the museum as the costumes where in films that we all know and love, such as; The Adams family, The wizard of Oz, Marlin Monroe, Spider man, Kill Bill, Dream Girls, Sweeny Todd, Super man, Indiana Jones, Avatar, Darth adder, Grinch, Queen, How to loose a guy in ten days, Cat woman, Bat man, Rocky, Jack sparrow, Terminator, Black Swan, Mamma Mia and Brave Heart.
Over all I really enjoyed this Hollywood exhibition as the costumes are extremely detailed and beautifully hand crafted
Hope House Costume Museum and Restoration Workshop
During my time in Professional Studies there was a small Museum held on the street in Markeaton, Derby University. There was plenty of vintage garments made from the 1790s up to the 1970s.
Hope House Costume Museum and Restoration Workshop is a realisation of a dream that Notty Hornblower had nurtured for more than thirty years. She began seriously collecting period costumes when in her thirties and has now amassed a huge collection that include outfits from 1790s up to the 1970s. Most of the collections has been donated by local people and includes menswear, childrens and baby outfit, christening robes, military uniforms and exquisite wedding dresses.

As part of our course we had a trip to London to the V&A Museum which was very interesting with a huge range of different cultures and religions through out the whole museum. I found the work beautiful and out standing. I have posted more images in research as there is a huge range of photographs....
